A Book That'll Tug At Your Heartstrings...

A Lion Called Christian - By Anthony Bourke and John Rendall
A Lion Called Christian: The True Story of the Remarkable Bond Between Two Friends and a Lion

Almost finished this novel about the relationship between two friends and a lion. Also known as "The Youtube Lion" Christian the Lion has become an internet phenomenon.

Without giving the whole story away, it shows how a bond between human(s) and animals can be as strong as our relationships with our families. It's an incredible story and I would recommend it to everyone!

For Adult Readers In Need of a Laugh...

Are You There, Vodka- It's Me, Chelsea

I recently just finished reading this novel and although I laughed from page to page, it isn't for everyone. Anyone who knows Chelsea Handler probably knows her from her late night talk show where she interviews celebrities, bluntly and humorously. Her jokes are crude and not for the easily offended. The book is simply a retelling of her life, a autobiography from childhood up until her shoot to stardom. If you are a woman who loves slapstick comedy or Sex and the City - than pick up this book for a good laugh!

My New Favourite Dessert...

Sinfully good & fattening... But I just made a recipe I found off of Bakerella and it is AMAZING! For all of you chocolate junkies or mommy's looking for new dessert ideas here’s the recipe... Click link at your own risk.

Now I'm off to try and make Nanaimo Bars for the first time. Wish me good luck!

Bridal Party...

Recently we threw a Bridal Shower for one of my BFF's Amelia. I was excited (to say the least) when she asked me last year to be one of her bridesmaids. What can I say about Amelia? She's smart, kind, caring and she's been my friend since the tender age of 12. We've been through braces, frizzy hair, long floral print skirts and ugly platform shoes together...

We've seen eachother grow out of our awkward stages and go through the ups and downs of life...

Now I'm lucky enough to be apart of her wedding day! I'm so excited - as Amelia has amazing taste and I know the day will be beautiful and one to remember. Nik & Amelia - I wish you the best on your journey as hubby and wife! I love you guys! xo

My Introduction to Fondant...

Our day started with a simple task, make a birthday cake for Adam! Armed with my talented and creative sister by my side - we got up early and went shopping for all the ingredients. As discussed before we had decided to make my boyfriend a Super Mario inspired fondant cake. This was my first time baking with fondant and although Jaclyn reassured me "it would be easy" I had a feeling our intricate drawings of what we wanted the cake to look like were a little far fetched. However, we continued with our plans and even brought up possibly owning our own bakery one day. You know like on Cake Boss! Oh, how quickly we took that one back!

After five hours of baking cakes, making fondant and attempting (for the first time) to make characters out of molding chocolate... we were forced to give up on our dream and accept what it had turned into. I loved it but my sister had the baking blues, she thought it could've been better!

He doesn't have rabies... I swear

As a kitten he looked so sweet and innocent, now my cat is often known as Demon Kitty or Spawn of Satan... something along those lines. When my sister's cats had kittens years ago, I begged my parents to let me keep one and of course I chose the most rambunctious of the bunch, the only ginger in the group! As soon as we got him, he was a force to be reckoned with. Scratching, biting, hissing, etc. My kitty needed bootcamp...

Even though he's bitten me, scratched me, tried to trip me down the stair and continues to bite any guests I have over to visit if they talk too loud ... I still love him. My cute, grumpy, orange kitty!

Argh... Canadian Weather!

Fellow Canadians, I'm sure you feel my pain. The constant change in our random "spring like" winter... has finally hit my immune system. I've spent the week sick - squeaking out words and adding to my enormous pile of tissues.

Well enough pity for me and my red nose. On a positive note - I'm finally learning to put photographs on my blog. I'm learning... slowly but surely! While being sick and shut in I've spent many hours catching up on my reading.

I also started my Bucket List. (A list of things I want to do before I die) So far I have...

1. Get my writing published
2. Climb the CN Tower
3. Make a difference in the world
4. Have a family
5. Go Bungee Jumping
6. Zipline through a rain forest
7. Get a job I love
8. Travel through Europe
9. Become a baking guru
10. Successfully help people less fortunate

A few things are a bit far fetched - some things seem attainable. With help I'm sure I'll be able to cross some off. I have an idea that might help me cross #10 off the list... stay tuned!:)
